(More customer reviews)I bought this watch for my wife who likes to swim and snorkel. The amazon.com listing indicated that this watch was Water Resistant to 30 meters (about 99 feet). When I received it I noticed that the instruction manual did not list "Water Resistant to 30 meters" anywhere. In fact according to the instruction manual this watch should not be worn at all in the water. According to the Citizen Watch Company homepage (and listed in the the instruction manual) each Citizen watch has a movement number on the back of the case and if that number begins with a B as does this one (i.e., B023) then the watch should not be used in the water. If it begins with the letter D then the watch is good for 100 meters and can be used while swimming but not while SCUBA diving. In addition If the term Water Resistant only appears on the back and not the dial then the watch can not be used while swimming. In short if you want a Citizen watch that can be used in the water look for WR50, WR100 or WR200 on both the dial and the case. Note that if you click on Water Resistance Depth in the chart for the listing on amazon.com you will see all three of these explained and there is no listing for anything less than 50 meters.
I brought this to the attention of an amazon.com customer service representative and I notice that the Water Resistance has been decreased to 20 meters which still makes no sense since this watch can not be used on top of the water never mind 20 meters under water. I returned this watch and bought the Citizen EW1542-59A which is ten dollars more but has the WR100 rating on both the dial and the case.
